Xavier Van Overmeire is born in 1978 in Namur and grew up in Walloon Brabant.

In 1998, he starts his law studies in Namur, and studies his master degree and the CAPES at the Belgian university city of Louvain-La-Neuve.

He went on an Erasmus exchange in the German university of Wurzburg. He did his lawyer internship at the Brussels and Tournai bar and completed his training at the University of Montréal (L.L.M. ) in international private law and also management at the University of Concordia (Montréal).

Today, Xavier Van Overmeire is associated to the international lawyer cabinet Dentons where he practices business law, more specifically international trade law. He also is a Fellow at the Montréal Centre for International Studies. Xavier developed an exceptional expertise in multi-jurisdictional transactions and represents companies at international courts and in arbitration panels concerning international trade issues. He teaches “International trade transactions law” at the faculty of Law of the University of Montréal and is regularly invited by diverse organisations to talk about international trade and free-trade agreements.

Xavier Van Overmeire is also President of the Belgian-Canadian trade chamber BCBC in Toronto and is a member of the executive committee of the French-Canadian trade chamber in Paris.

Mr. Xavier Van Overmeire has agreed and is honoured to join the Club as its Vice-President.
